Why hello there...

I haven't blogged since May?!? Wow. That's ridiculous.

It's mostly because I've been tweeting a lot at twitter.com/ericcoomer and posting at The Eric Coomer Music Facebook Page. And I've updated the official Eric Coomer website.

But I should update you here as well! First of all, my solo EP, "The Vast Configuration of Things" (Hey, that's the name of this blog too!) will be releasing in November and I can't wait for you to hear it! It's almost finally done and those who supported me by donating at Kickstarter will be receiving it within the next couple weeks.

For those of you who weren't able to donate before, you can still get the EP in advance by purchasing it here within the next few weeks. More info coming on that soon. These purchases will be paramount because any money from those sales will be used to promote the EP on the actual release date.

So stay tuned for further updates. Thanks always for your support!

So long but not "so long"

It's been so long since I cared enough to write on this blog. I grew weary of writing about myself. So I started focusing on worship and music and music in worship and alt worship. So I started mostly just posting one music video and one movie trailer every week. Then I got tired of that.

Here's what's going on with me:
  • Daphne's due any day with our second child, Evan
  • My office/studio is gone in favor of a room for Evan
  • Jackson, our first child, is 3½ and the pride of my life
  • We're attending McKendree UMC in downtown Nashville and love it
  • My band, KNAPSACKHEROES! is still working toward superstardom.
*Or at least toward getting a freaking album done
  • Pray for my dad. He currently has pneumonia and it's not looking good
  •
Lastly, in the recent year I've fallen back in love with the electric guitar. Well, I never fell out of love with it, so I should say I've fallen more deeply in love with the electric guitar and much more in love with effects pedals.

So, in addition to continuing to post trailers and music, you should expect to read about my thoughts on guitar gear...all this despite the fact I currently don't play guitar in my band. I have been playing at church a lot and though I'm leading worship once a month, I've found it incredibly freeing to play while not actually being the leader on other Sundays (we have a great leader in Anthony Mangin - and he has really great guitar tone).

Anyway, stay tuned for whatever. I shall not say "so long" to you just yet.

Look for more updates at the official Eric Coomer website.

    Blahhhhg

I just don't ever write real blog posts any more. I know I should. It was for the discipline that I started this thing in the first place. I'll try, but for now enjoy the weekly videos and follow me on Twitter. Oh, and you should be reading my friend Ashley Freeman's blog.

Go to the official Eric Coomer website instead.

    Updates

I haven't blogged in a loooooong time. I feel I should provide an update or two. Daphne and I are going to have a baby in November. We find out this Tuesday whether it will be a boy or a girl. I'll post it here.

We're really excited about it. The timing is perfect. The biggest lesson of my adult life has consistently been that God's timing is completely different from mine. And always better.

KNAPSACKHEROES! is going well. We're doing lots of concerts. Next week we will post a new live track. You can see us in concert at the Cornerstone Festival in Illinois two times during the last week of June.

For all my Nashville peeps, PLEASE come see us Tuesday at The Anchor. You can get more info at our MySpace.

I'm working on Centerfest 2007 (Nashville's Christian Music Festival), and it's going well. John Reuben will be there as will Spoken and many others. We hope you will come and bring your church.

Things are going well. I'm keeping too busy to blog very much for now. Maybe more soon...

    Blahg

It's been three months since my last blog and before that I was sporadic at best. I wonder if anyone still reads this thing. Anyway, I am back.

    Blogbatical

So, about two dozen times now I have said that I would get back into blogging. I haven't felt like it much. So, I won't promise anything but maybe the blogbatical is finally over?

    December 15, 2005

This time I really mean it.

I'm really back now. My laptop is gone. The computer store said it wasn't worth it to fix that model because it would just break down again in a couple months. One guy there told me that they had seen 15 or so of the Dell 5150 in the past couple months and that, since Dell obviously isn't going to do a recall, that someone ought to do a class action suit against Dell.

Oh well...so I'm on my old Compaq with a new copy of XP.

    November 29, 2005

    I'm back.

Oh yeah, my laptop is still MIA (or is it DOA?) but I jury-rigged (I looked it up...it's not actually jerry, it's jury) my desktop and am now able to be online. Sort of.

Oh and I got a digital camera for my birthday! So more pictures soon.

    The Discipline of Blogging

I lack discipline.... or consistency. I will begin to blog more regularly this week. I hope. I will post several MP3s. I haven't even done that for several weeks.

    June 2, 2005

    Long time no write.

I haven't posted much of anything this week. I've been keeping very busy. Here's some highlights to get you up to date.

    • The new alternative worship gathering at Grace begins on June 30 and will be the last Thursday of each month this summer. We haven't announced it yet at church. So, if you're reading this and you go to my church... hello.

    • Grace will also host a coffeehouse with live music on the last Wednesday of each month this summer.

    • I'll be playing several times in Kentucky this summer. I've been getting some gigs and need more. You can see them at the site.

    • The live recording didn't pan out on Sunday. Couldn't hear the guitar because of the cord. I used Jennifer's guitar and it's a great guitar. Stupid cord just didn't work right. I get my guitar back tomorrow from being fixed... I have whatever is the opposite of Midas' touch.

    • I've posted a new song (one of the ones where the guitar cord decided to work) from the concert Sunday. You can now listen to the music through the music page of eric coomer dot com. The recording kind of sucks. I am working on a studio song... just kind of need my guitar to do it.

    • Cokesbury Nashville has plenty of copies of Emerging Worship in the store now.

    • Practicing with Knapsack Heroes every week gearing up for live shows.

    • Leave tomorrow to lead music for a retreat with the Smyrna 1st UMC senior high group. I can't wait! That group is great. Holley is great. Her youth workers are great. Lorin Pedigo, one of my best friends will be there to speak. The three of us will work very well together I'm sure.

    • Do you like the new look of the blog? It looks best on Firefox but pretty much everything does. I'll probably change the look again soon. Still not satisfied.
    That's all for now.

    Where did January Go?

Gavin reminded me this morning that it has been quite some time since I've blogged. Indeed it's been more than a month. A lot has happened since. So I'll start with this weekend and move backwards in my further posts. But I'll post date them... so you'll still have to hit the back button to move forward.
