Illuminated clothes pin
More pics at Likecool.com.
How cool would it look to see several dozen of these hanging actual clothes.
Inverted House
I don't know where this is but I would gladly pay to tour it. See more pics and learn how they did it at dornob.com.

The Moth & The Podiatrist
You have to love Norm MacDonald. Okay, maybe you don't. Okay, you don't have to. But I at least like him.
I'm so glad NBC posted this segment of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Also, Hulu has a cool feature I didn't know about until just now where you can trim the video to show just what you want. So, without further adieu, enjoy (all of) this:

The Hobnox Audiotool
The Hobnox Audiotool is an incredibly cool online app that allows you to create music with either of two drum machines (one is an 808), a Tonematrix (an online version of a Tenori-on), a bass synth, and your choice of twelve effects pedals. You can record up to five minutes of the music or loops you create. I could see entire albums worth of cool music coming from this app.

Cassettes Undead
Hello children of the eighties. Remember cassettes? Oh, you early nineties kids too, I guess.
Designers have begun recycling cassettes in rather unique ways. Last week I posted about the cassette lamps. Here are a couple more 21st century uses for old tapes:
On the left: a 4-port USB hub from vat19.com. On the right, an iPod Nano case from Contexture Design. Go to those sites for more designs.
I saw both these things on Boing Boing Gadgets.

From Time Magazine - Teleportation Is Real – But Don't Try It at Home
Physics and magic aren't often mistaken, but increasingly, physicists themselves seem to be trying to change that. Last year, a team at the University of California, Berkeley, announced that it had developed materials that could lead to an invisibility cloak. Last month, a group of researchers at Harvard University and the National Institutes of Health reported that it had accomplished something not unlike levitation, causing a microscopic sphere of gold to rise above a glass surface. Now, according to a paper published in the Jan. 23 issue of Science, a team of scientists from the Joint Quantum Institute (JQI) at the University of Maryland and the University of Michigan has joined the fun. The current bit of legerdemain? Teleportation.

Polygon Playground
Saw this on Kanye's blog. Yes, that Kanye. What other Kanye's do you know? He has a pretty good blog actually.
The "Polygon Playground" offers room for up to 40 persons at a time to walk, sit and explore its multifaceted surfaces. Gradient ramps guide to the top plateau or offer space to sit and rest. The installation features a software aided 3D surface projection system to cover the object with a seamless 360 degree projection mapping. An additional sensory system detects peoples positions and proximity.
The visual appearance of the "Polygon Playground" changes continously with the presence, movements and touches of its visitors. The object detects the positions and directions of people and reacts with evolving visual moods and graphic styles.
The hardware and software system of the "Polygon Playground" can be applied to virtually any 3D body to turn it into an interactive object.

Free Tivo!
Yes, free I say. Well, good luck. I couldn't find the link but we got a free TiVo box from tivo.com and (believe it or not) Focus on the Family. Seems James Dobson's people are pleased with TiVo's ability to filter out the un-family programming television is so apt to offer and its ability to highlight quality family programming.
I wonder if they care that Dobson's favorite "gay cartoon" Spongebob is considered family fare.
Anyway, TiVo is pretty cool indeed. Although I don't have a network router and was unaware I needed to have the thing plugged into the internet at all times. I was only plugging it in to my cable modem when it ran out of programming info and then replugging my computer's ethernet cable back in. But that method stopped working and now it's just a digital VCR.
So, I'm going to have to call TiVo and figure this out because I want my "season pass" back for Greek, American Idol, and Lost. Oh and BET is now airing classic episodes of Diff'rent Strokes!
Lord help me. I am a geek. And a couch potato.
