Music Video of the Week: Paper Route - "Gutter"
Confession: I generally know within the first thirty seconds whether or not a video is going to be "Music Video of the Week". I have to like the music and the video itself has to be something new, something different, something atypical. So, for this week's I've chosen Paper Route's "Gutter". It hits every target perfectly and it probably doesn't hurt that I know they're incredibly nice guys. It's also one of those videos that the first time I watched it, I said, "I wish I'd thought of this for my band."
P.S. Paper Man was the movie trailer of the week. Paper Route is the music video of the week. Coincidence? Um, yes.

Movie Trailer of the Week - Paper Man
I remember a movie starring Jeff Daniels as an author of a hit book who can't seem to write a followup. It was called The Answer Man. It was just okay. Paper Man is not a sequel, and it looks a lot better.

Movie Trailer of the Century - "Movie Title"
A commenter over at Stuff Christians Like noted that the "Sunday's Coming" video that I reposted may have been inspired (well, she said the words "rip" and "off") by this gem from BritAnNick.
"Sunday's Coming" Trailer
This is so good I'm gonna post it here, on Twitter, and on Facebook. But I'll start here and wonder (as always) if anyone even visits my blog.

The Nashville Flood of 2010
I have never seen anything like this. Ever. Nashville is experiencing worse flooding than it has seen since the flood of 1979,The National Guard has been called in to aid in flood relief. The government is strongly encouraging people to not leave their homes. Streets have become rivers that look like whitewater rapids. MTA buses are not running. Many church services have been canceled. As I write this, 48 roads have been closed in Nashville alone. As of this morning, more than 150 water rescues have been performed. More than 48,000 homes without power. Sadly, seven deaths have been confirmed in the area.
This video is from yesterday. It's worse today.
So far we are okay at our house and on our street. I am waiting for a break in the rain (and, more specifically, lightning) to get on a ladder and fix our gutter. We put a trash can under the gutter to catch water and it filled within a few minutes.
My band had a show in Illinois last night and, even though we got back around 4 in the morning, I'm happy that got home when we did because sections of most of the local interstates are now closed.
I will be posting pictures here from friends throughout the next couple days. Stay tuned.

Movie Trailer of the Week - The Other Guys
The Rock and Samuel L. Jackson in a buddy cop movie. Yep, sounds about right. Oh, did I mention the main stars are Mark Wahlberg and none other than one mister Will Ferrell? The Other Guys re-teams Ferrell with Adam McKay, who directed him in Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers.
This won't win any awards, but it looks like a truly funny summer popcorn flick.

Music Video of the Week: Hot Chip - "I Feel Better"
On first glance you might think this an odd pick from me. Watch the whole video and see why I picked it. Then go check out Hot Chip.

Movie Trailer of the Week: Please Give
Please Give looks interesting. The film centers around the all too real "problem of how to live well and be a good person when poverty, homelessness, and sadness are always right outside the door."
The cast is excellent. I've always loved Catherine Keener, Oliver Platt, and Amanda Peet. And Rebecca Hall was excellent in Spanglish. The elderly lady in the film is Ann Morgan Guilbert, who played next door neighbor Millie on The Dick Van Dyke Show. The film was directed by Nicole Holofcener who helmed the first movie in which I remember seeing Keener, Walking and Talking and later went on to direct her in Friends With Money .

Movie Trailer of the Week: Legend of the Guardians
I figured if I'm going to post a trailer the day after the Oscars, I should try to find something that might be nominated next year. The Legend of the Guardians is a shoo in for nomination in the animation category. It comes to theaters on September 24.
