Classic Music Video of the Week - Wax, "California"
Before Spike Jonze directed movies like Being John Malcovich and the upcoming Where the Wild Things Are, he directed great music videos. (He also acted in movies like Three Kings and had a single line toward the very end of The Game. But that's for another post.)
You might remember Spike's video for Weezer's "Buddy Holly", in which the band was magically inserted into an episode of "Happy Days" or his video for Fatman Slim in which Christopher Walken goes from dancing to flying. He's an amazing director.
Here's a lesser known video he did for a lesser known band called Wax. I liked this band. Saw them in concert in Louisville when I was in high school. MTV made this a "Buzz Clip" when they still played videos. I was in a television class back then and when we sped the video up to normal time I seem to remember it was only sixteen seconds long.
Lately, I've been interested in single camera/single take videos. I've been thinking my band could do one. This is one idea we won't be trying:
