Movie Trailer of the Week - 127 Hours

I'm a big fan of Danny Boyle. He's never made a bad movie. Actually, he's never made a movie that wasn't great. His follow up to Slumdog Millionaire is 127 Hours, the true story of Aron Ralston. If you don't remember Ralston's name, you might remember his story. He's the he mountain climber who had to amputate arm to free himself after being trapped by a boulder while climbing a Utah mountain. I've been wondering how Boyle would make this harrowing tale (Ralston describes it here) into a film that was enjoyable to watch. Maybe, because of his heartwarming tales like Slumdog and Millions, I forget he came to fame with films like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting.

I've been a fan of James Franco since Freaks & Geeks and think that, despite the fact he looks nothing like Aron Ralston, he's the kind of actor who could carry a film like this.

What do you think?

Movie Trailer of the Week - The Informant!

Of course I want to see The Informant!

I love Stephen Soderbergh, I love Matt Damon, I sooo love Arden Myrin, I love Patton Oswald, I love Joel McHale, I LOVE Scott Bakula (is his hair not amazing in this?). And though you may think of Tom Wilson (ney Thomas F Wilson) as Biff from Back to the Future, I realized I loved him when he was Coach Ben Fredricks on Freaks and Geeks.

The Informant!
looks great and arrives in theaters October 9.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Daphne and I don't get to the theater much any more so it was a fun day today as we went to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I was unpleasantly surprised to find that ticket prices have once again risen - this time to a whopping $9.50 each!

Anyway, it's a very funny movie, the script was very well written by star (and Freaks and Geeks alum) Jason Segel, and the cast is excellent.

I previously had thought it might enter my favorite funny films of all time. I don't really think so but there are definitely many laugh out loud moments.

It's certainly not for the faint of heart and whole-heartedly earned its R rating. As you may have heard by now, Jason shows off his full monty more than once in the film.

All told, I'm not sure it was worth the nineteen-stinking-dollars we spent (not really sure anything is in these days of surround sound and large screen hi-def televisions), but it was definitely worth seeing.
