Music Video of the Week: Hot Chip - "I Feel Better"
On first glance you might think this an odd pick from me. Watch the whole video and see why I picked it. Then go check out Hot Chip.

Movie Trailer of the Week: Please Give
Please Give looks interesting. The film centers around the all too real "problem of how to live well and be a good person when poverty, homelessness, and sadness are always right outside the door."
The cast is excellent. I've always loved Catherine Keener, Oliver Platt, and Amanda Peet. And Rebecca Hall was excellent in Spanglish. The elderly lady in the film is Ann Morgan Guilbert, who played next door neighbor Millie on The Dick Van Dyke Show. The film was directed by Nicole Holofcener who helmed the first movie in which I remember seeing Keener, Walking and Talking and later went on to direct her in Friends With Money .

Movie Trailer of the Week: Legend of the Guardians
I figured if I'm going to post a trailer the day after the Oscars, I should try to find something that might be nominated next year. The Legend of the Guardians is a shoo in for nomination in the animation category. It comes to theaters on September 24.

Music Video(s) of the Week: OK Go - "This Too Shall Pass"
I do not know how the OK Go fellas keep coming up with these brilliant videos. This one is astoundingly cool!
Below that is another version I hadn't previously posted because some moron involved in the band's YouTubery thought it shouldn't be embeddable. Now it's up at Vimeo.

"We Are The World" 2010

The new "We Are The World" will premiere February 12 on NBC's opening games of the Olympics. Proceeds from the new version, which includes a new hip hop verse written by the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am, will go to the relief effort in Haiti.
The artists for this version are a who's who of today's music including: Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, Harry Connick Jr., Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, Tony Bennett, Justin Bieber, P!nk, Patti Austin, Brian Wilson and Al Jardine, Carlos Santana, Josh Groban, Gladys Knight, The Jonas Brothers, Jennifer Hudson, Enrique Iglesias, Harry Connick Jr., Natalie Cole, Drake, LL Cool J, Bustah Rhymes, Heart, BeBe Winans, Jamie Foxx, Usher, will.i.am, Robin Thicke, Rob Thomas, Akon, Brandy, Keri Hilson, Zac Brown, Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest, Joel and Benji Madden (of Good Charlotte), Melanie Fiona, Drake, Jordin Sparks, Mya, Musiq Soulchild, Katharine McPhee, Orianthi, Trey Songz, Faith Evans, Sugarland, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Mraz, India.Arie, Mary Mary, Tyrese , Raphael Saadiq, Pink, Jordin Sparks, Rob Thomas, Usher, the Fray's Isaac Slade, Adam Levine, Nicole Scherzinger, Julianne Hough, Jeff Bridges, and yes...Vince Vaughn and Snoop Dogg.
Janet Jackson will sing Michael's part, which is nice.
Nepitism never hurts as Rashida Jones (the Parks & Rec and I Love You Man actress is Quincy's daughter) and Nicole Richie (Lionel's offspring) were also on hand.
I'm still trying scratching my head as to why Justin Bieber gets to sing the very first lines originally done by Lionel Richie. Not sure his voice is even deep enough to sing that part. Lil Wayne is doing the Bob Dylan part. No, seriously.
Some artists Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie and the others involved wanted, such as Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake and Lady GaGa, were unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts. So, who else was not there? Let's see: Rihanna, Fergie, Britney, Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban...hmm, who else? Leave comments!
If you're wondering where Mariah Carey was, she took part in a Haiti tribute Simon Cowell put together across the pond. Others involved included Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams, Cheryl Cole, Jon Bon Jovi, Michael Buble, Kylie Minogue, and Susan Boyle.
The song is a cover of R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts". Listen to that one here:

Musicians who died and weren't mentioned on The Grammys
I was saddened and slightly frustrated with the lack of a more respectful "In Memoriam" portion of tonight's Grammys. First of all, they put two or three on the screen at one time, and more importantly, they left a ton of people out altogether.
Here are some musicians who died since the 2009 Grammys that I noticed they omitted:

Movie Trailer of the Week (Big & Small) - "Knight and Day" / "Boy"
Big budget movie Knight and Day starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz (who had good chemistry together in Vanilla Sky) will release in theaters for the 4th of July weekend on July 2.
Indie movie Boy will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2010 this month. Among other things, it looks like a fitting if bittersweet love letter to Michael Jackson. It hasn't been picked up by a distributor yet, but will surely find one at Sundance.

Rich Mullins - "You Gotta Get Up (Christmas Song)"
I didn't like any of the videos that people had done for this song. So, I made one using footage I found on YouTube of Christmas mornings from various families from the 1950's and 1960's. Hope you enjoy.
