I saw Josh Garrels at last year's Cornerstone festival and was blown away. It was so refreshing to hear someone who sounded that different from anyone else in the Christian music community. Comparisons could certainly be drawn to Citizen Cope or G. Love & Special Sauce.Like G. Love, Garrels is a great singer as well as rapper. Unfortunately, you won't hear any MCing on this song, "Break Bread", but I'm choosing it because I can't get enough of his modern hippieish take on this classic Jesus movement folk song that has become known as a communion hymn.
